Occupational Therapy for Kids - Literacy

Occupational Therapy for kids provides various evidence based therapy techniques to improve a child’s literacy skills. Understanding and remembering single and digraph sounds (when two letters make one sound) is a key starting point to helping children understanding how words are built. Sometimes it is the ability to recall such sounds which is the most challenging part of all. Providing a multisensory approach to learning can assist in the automation of these sounds (encoding into long-term memory) so that children are able to move forward in their learning engage in more complex reading tasks.

The therapy we provide is 1:1 which enables a child to learn strategies without distraction in a safe environment where asking questions is encouraged! Mistakes are also welcomed as this is the basis for development and change.
